Everything you need to know about becoming a tutor on Xpeak AI
Right now, we only accept tutors who are native speakers of English, Spanish, or Chinese (Mandarin). You should have teaching experience or relevant certifications, and a passion for helping others learn.
Typically we prefer tutors to have a bachelor's degree to become a tutor on Xpeak AI. However, if you are an experienced tutor with sufficient teaching experience and relevant certifications, you are also welcome to apply. We evaluate each application holistically, considering education, experience, and teaching qualifications.
We offer $13/hour, $6.5 per 30-minute completed lesson as the base rate. Additionally, tutors can earn performance bonuses ranging from 10% to 25% of the lesson price based on their quarterly performance metrics, including student ratings, lesson completion rates, and overall engagement. Typical effective rate during beta: $15–$17/hour depending on lesson volume and performance. Because the platform is still early, this compensation model will continue to evolve. One of our goals is to build additional earning opportunities for tutors beyond hourly teaching — and early tutors will have the chance to shape how that develops.
We offer 30-minute standard lessons. This duration allows for focused, effective learning while fitting into busy schedules.
Tutors can withdraw their earnings once the balance reaches $100. Withdrawals are allowed up to twice per month. We're open to making this more flexible in the future based on tutor feedback and needs.
Typically, the application review process takes 2-5 business days. Once approved, you'll receive access to your tutor dashboard and can start setting your availability. We'll notify you via email at each step of the process.
To teach on Xpeak AI, you'll need a stable internet connection (minimum 5 Mbps upload/download), a computer or tablet with a webcam and microphone, and a quiet teaching environment. We recommend using Chrome or Firefox browsers for the best experience.
Currently, we accept tutors who are native speakers of English, Spanish, or Chinese (Mandarin). If you're a native speaker of one of these languages and also fluent in another language, you may be able to teach both. Please indicate all your language proficiencies in your application.
